WATCHING
To be honest I’ve been in a bit of tv and movie rut. Instead I have been watching YouTube, specifically videos centered on flowers and interior design. They are extremely calming, especially before bed.
READING
I go through phases with the final book of the ACOTAR series. While last week I was staying up far too late trying to devour one last sentence, this week the book does not interest me at all. Instead I have been reading Substacks before bed. Current favorites include Art Every Day, Bread & Butter, Home by India Knight, and the always amusing Dirtbags Through the Ages. An eclectic mix, but I adore them.
LISTENING
I am craving soft music, whether it is jazz or early 2000’s indie singers like Feist. Below are two playlists that I return to time and again.
OBSESSING
Yesterday we hosted a dinner party. We went simple with hamburgers, a pea, potato, & bacon salad, a mixed greens & herb salad, and a raspberry ricotta cake for dessert. It was the perfect menu, especially for a low-key weeknight meal.
What made the meal truly delicious were the ingredients. I tried out new buns from Cristal and Cherchie’s Hot Banana Pepper Mustard. Both were beyond and truly made the burgers a touch above.
In addition to cooking up a storm, I’ve been doing a lot of gardening in the mornings and afternoons (in between the high heat). There is nothing better than cutting bougainvillea & gardenias from our yard.
My favorite outfit to wear putzing around the backyard is my well loved Murray’s overalls picked up from a trip to Nantucket years ago. I pair them with an Alice Walk striped tee (a closet essential). The plethora of pockets are ideal for gardening and running errands. I just ordered these Madewell overalls, will report back if I love them as much as my Murrays!
STITCHING
Season is winding down in Palm Beach. The heat has returned and with it a decrease in traffic and an increase in reservation availability at our favorite restaurants.
Truth be told, all I am craving is home cooked meals. Hosting at home with friends who embrace a slightly cluttered house and a little Bailey hair on the couch.
This past weekend we had friends and their babies & kids over for the Masters. Pups were running around and toddlers were snatching cookies from unsupervised plates. It was wonderful.
While I am still making very slow progress on my blue backgammon board, this past weekend made me want to stitch Claire O’Brien’s “Party Time” canvas. It would be fabulous hung on a front door while hosting. The perfect “welcome” to guests.
DOING
This Friday (04/18) at 9 am EDT we are launching a collaboration with Paige Spearin. The collection features 25+ canvases that are whimsical, pretty, and charming. I hope you adore them as much as I do. Below are some sneak peeks.
