This past Sunday Mr. N and I had a day. We treated ourselves to brunch, then a pop into our favorite men’s store (Gentlemen’s Corner), and finally a walk down Worth Avenue. Although most of the stores were closed, it was still fun to window shop. We spent a rainy afternoon on the couch, indulging in a new series and a movie. When the dogs became restless and the clouds cleared we took them for a walk. We ended the evening grilling on the porch and tuning into the latest White Lotus episode. It was the first day that we didn’t have appointments or plans in weeks, and it was marvelous. A much needed reminder that although it is fun to be busy, cozy downtime is essential.
In the spirit of rest, this currently loving is dedicated to all things comfortable and homey. I hope you enjoy.
WATCHING
I adore movies that find beauty in the mundane and demonstrate how resilient and full of hope humans are. Sing Sing is a beautifully and quietly shot movie that centers on the theatre program at the Sing Sing prison. Mr. N and I both cried during this movie. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a while. Highly recommend.
On the recommendation of Molly Moorkamp I started The Studio on Apple TV. A new series about the trials of a new head of a movie studio played by Seth Rogan. It is funny, fast paced, and brash. I throughly enjoyed the first two episodes and cannot wait for more.
READING
My friend Dawn gifted me this book years ago. Each day of the year is listed with a quote following and a short essay. While some daily essays resonate more than others they all make me pause and think, which in a world of busy is truly a gift.
LISTENING
This is my all time favorite morning playlist. If you love classical music then I would definitely listen!
OBSESSING
It has become a favorite tradition to share a breakfast recipe on Lycette’s weekly emails. This week’s recipe is cherry chocolate chip muffins, and they are divine. Coming to your inbox this Thursday! They are perfection warmed up with a hot cup of coffee.
I have always been a matching pajamas person (hello Sleepy Jones), but lately I’ve been loving sweatpants. More specifically a 90s staple- GAP sweatpants. Comfy and normally on sale these sweatpants (& matching sweatshirt) have become a go to when putzing around the house.
PS if you purchase the pink sweatpants wash alone for the first laundry cycle, unless you want light pink towels to match mine
I always love popping into the Aerin store in Palm Beach, everything is so pretty & dainty. My last visit I browsed the perfumes and fell in love with the Lilac scent. Perfectly ladylike.
I adore ballet flats, and these denim ones from Margaux would go with any outfit. High on the wishlist.
STITCHING
This past March was busy. Living in a vacation town means that during winter and spring breaks our calendars are booked- everyone is visiting! In between walks, coffees, and dinners there was little time for needlepoint. As children are ushered back to school needlepoint takes center stage again. This past weekend I finished the above monogram from The Lady Derby. I cannot wait to have it attached to the wicker bag shown, with a drawstring pouch in the pink & green toile.
Last week we launched our collaboration with Cedar Street Stationers, the designer behind this seashell key fob. I am determined to complete the bargello background this week! I plan to finish mine as a bookmark to use with my favorite Elin Hilderbrand beach reads.
DOING
Making time. Making time to be cozy, to cook, to read, to play with the dogs, to needlepoint, to garden, and, most importantly, to be present. This is my goal for April.
I hope you all had a lovely March, April is going to be even better.
xo,
Mrs.N
Adding “Simple Abundance” to my cart right now! I am always endlessly inspired (and feel more calm) after reading these, Jessica!
Do you carry the adorable wicker handbag that you will put you monogram on?
